Hamburg‘s promis­ing duo-de-force Maniax, aka Marc Deal and Fer­ris, are back with another out­stand­ing 12“ on Moon­boo­tique. The pair, who have already played along­side the likes of Tief­schwarz, Dig­i­tal­ism, Turntable Rock­ers, Malente and Lützenkirchen to name a few, now hold a res­i­dency at the much respected Baal­saal club in Ham­burg. With the new sin­gle being co-written and co-produced by Moonbootica‘s Tobitob, they really show off their skills here, cre­at­ing mon­ster beats stirred together with strong emo­tional dancefloor.

After last year‘s plen­ti­ful help­ing of rave med­i­cine, ‚Dark City‘, the pair won favour across the board for their ‚straight to the jugu­lar‘ take on the electro-tech-house sound. This new EP takes things one step fur­ther how­ever, with the A side ‚Plu­to­nium Boy‘ tak­ing flight straight out of the pair‘s top-secret bomb fac­tory! A wonky and obese bassline wig­gles its way through the array of sharp beats, build­ing with intense crescen­dos as lay­ers of thick synth chords take their aim, smash­ing into the tar­get with unbe­liev­able force. Its a clev­erly sequenced musi­cal jour­ney thats full of heart, energy and emotion!

The equally dan­ger­ous ‚Heroes‘ takes a shuf­fling elec­tro swing and tweaks another typ­i­cally manic mon­ster bassline through var­i­ous adrenal FX rushes. This is a stag­ger­ing, swag­ger­ing and ener­getic dance­floor tool that boasts more dynamism and clever ideas than so many oth­ers around.

Ton­ing things down a notch, but still main­tain­ing a covertly close aim on the disco tar­get, label mate and busy DJ & Pro­ducer Ante Perry com­pletes the pack­age with a spe­cial dubbed remix of ‚Plu­to­nium Boy‘. Spread­ing the dam­age zone of this release even wider, Perry abducts the synth stabs of the orig­i­nal and takes them away on a dri­ving, dirty week­end in Berlin…

Besides their work together as Maniax, Fer­ris just became a mem­ber of the reknowned Ger­man group Deichkind while Marc Deal‘s unique vocals fea­tured on the lat­est Moon­boot­ica album, and will be tour­ing with them this sum­mer on their numer­ous fes­ti­val dates.
