Sometimes a musical partnership is formed, where high quality forward thinking output is almost guaranteed, due to the sheer talent and experience of its 2 members. The partnership then of DJ Friction (of the hugely popular German band Freundeskreis), and DJ Thomilla (the well known Hip-Hop DJ and Producer, also one half of Turntablerocker with Michi Beck) was a certified, tried and tested winning combination. After much success individually, and eventual touring together with their various different projects, the pair got together as a DJ double act, and so ‚Bodymovin‘ was born.

Of course the natural progression after the duo‘s riotous DJ touring was to dedicate time in the studio together. The first results of these sessions could be heard on their first single ‚Good Time‘, which kicked things off for the newly founded ‚We Love This‘ label, followed by ‚Everybody‘ on Moonbootique. Now we are greeted with a full length, self-titled artist album that mixes superbly produced, energetic electro-disco-house jams with catchy, nu-pop sentiments, stretched over 12 glorious tracks; Moonboutique‘s third CD format release.

The album is richly decorated with lovingly played analogue synth vibes, funked-out basslines, irresistible vocal hooks and an unending supply of tight, club-friendly beats. All this is tied together by subtle, lovingly sequenced arrangements that lock the listener in, yet surprise them with a constant forward moving energy that presents raw musical ideas in a more digestible context. This is a real amalgam of modern electronic, effortlessly appealing to fans across the spectrum.

There are 12 tracks featured here, each with their own voice, mode and vision — they are all irresistible, essential cuts — and its clear to hear the high quality, instinctive song-writing skills of the duo right from the introduction bars of ‚Yeah!‘. Melding electronic disco, modern dancefloor beats and ultra-catchy synth-lines a-plenty, tracks like their single hits ‚Good Time‘ or ‚Everybody‘,  ‚In & Out‘ or their trademark ‚B.O.D.Y.M.O.V.I.N‘ shake the system upside down.…

Distinc synth-pop-meets-disco moments are displayed with the uplifting ‚It Wasn‘t Calf‘ or the subtle ‚Freak‘, while more dancefloor jams roll out with a certain minimal exterior, like ‚Sureshot‘ or the album‘s epilogue that is ‚Get Down‘. In-between we are even treated to a couple of sweetly-slowed numbers like ‚Hold Back‘ or ‚More & More‘ that remind us of Friction and Thomilla‘s un-ending musicality, and distinguished song-writing skills.…!

Its a remarkably accomplished album literally bursting at the seams with fresh musical ideas, catchy, presenting unforgettable hooks and up-front dancefloor energy together with true song-writing and a classy, unmistakably professional sound. Welcome to the space-disco-tech-house-song-writing world of Bodymovin!!
