Hamburg, St. Pauli based artist duo “Straßenkoeter” is currently preparing their big showroom for VIVA CON AGUA at Melt Festival with a great line-up of artist portraits from the music scene. They already worked with artists such as:

Redman, Grandmaster Flash, Ghost Face Killah, Deichkind, Peter Fox, Seelig, Mouse on Mars,The Crookers, Talib Kweli, Dilated People etc.

All their artwork will be shown on 13th edition of Melt Festival on July 16th — 18th 2010 followed by vernissages and finissages in Hamburg and Berlin where all their work will be sold for a good cause!

The original disco bear strikes again on Moonbootique! After last years huge ‘Flashing Disco Sounds’ comp, and some absolute winners like his recent 12 on Hertzlich, Ante Perry is back with a guaranteed dancefloor destroyer!

Following the huge anthem “Human You” Ante teams up once more with the ingenious Tube & Berger to put up another bomb.

‘1234’ is a club assured, fiendish disco bomb that refuses to sit down. Working upwards from a solid tech house groove, the track explodes into freshly spiked disco mayhem in a matter of minutes. Nothing can prepare the floor for what occurs after the first of its several breaks has dropped, and we’re left confident of Ante’s total hit potential.

Next its Moonbootica’s turn to wrap ‘1234’ round their studio cables and churn out another surprising and classic ‘Bootica’ battle weapon. Glossy, dramatic and straight to the jugular, their tough beatdown version is sure to do the business where its needed.

Throwing massive house, tough electronic disco and tweaked out filter action into a giant melting pot of peak time perfection, ‘The Ease’ grabs our attention with sharp, tightly tuned drums leading towards a monster party bassline that flies through several tense climaxes. Peaking, big-stlye disco throwdowns a-plenty!

Fukkk Offf’s tough remix raises the bar with chunky, bass-heavy drums, and a more sinister groove that leans towards the maximal end of the spectrum. Still peaking, still party, this more acidic version shows off the extreme virtues of Fukkk Offf as a remixer!

Some artists just need a few keywords in their description and the counterpart knows directly who you are talking about. The keeper of this biography is among this species of artists. He is polarizing in many kinds – with his appearance, his uncompromising rocking DJ sets, his own events, multifunctional productions and his fun with his hedonistic artist life, that he is sharing with anyone who has got the same sense of humor. So we are talking about a born-andbred workaholic from the music scene, who is unmasked by a handful keywords like “Flashing Disco Sounds”, “Dortmund”, “Diskobear”, “apeoffice”, “Moonbootique”, “Systematic” and “Ante TV” worldwide as chief rocker Ante Perry. Flashing Disco Sounds are on his agenda. That is why he is not only using them as description of his sound, but also as title of one of his most successful series of events, a double Mix-Cd and one out of it resulting E.P. with own tracks. As a DJ Ante is that, what the vernacular is calling “secure investment”. No matter where he plays his eclectic sets, he knows to fit in any situation of a party like a chameleon but still keeping his own taste, regardless of playing deep house, techno or in big rooms.

Dortmund is the homebase of this Ruhrpott romantic who is very attached to his hometown. If someone played a main part, in Dortmund manifesting as a part of the international scene, it was dortmunds jack-of-all-trades Ante. Diskobear is his nickname, which is long ago not only used anymore by his closest friends. It doesn‘t bother him. He seems like being so amused with his new role, that it became an own element in this biography. That makes him, being the only Diskobear to bustle a barrel of monkeys/bunch of apes. apeoffice is the name of the implied agency, that is leaving its own brandmark in most parts of germany because of its events. True to the motto “Not only we know how to rave, but also we know how to organize it”, the apeoffice has shown with events like Flashing Disco Sounds, Erste Liga, Heimspiel im Stadion, AEEW, Zuckerbrot und Peitsche, Home14, Electronic Nation and not to forget the Mixery Love Sensation @ Loveparade 2008, that an excessive use of bananas paired with fun at work and love for the music are a safety formula for succesful events and ecstatic crowds.

Moonbootique, the label from the famous duo Moonbootica, is the homebase for his productions, that mostly result of cooperations with his “partnersin– crime” Tube & Berger or Kolombo. Also on Marc Romboys label Systematic you can find succesfull releases. Tracks like “Beach Power”, “Der Urknall” and “1,2,3,4” (remixed from Kabale und Liebe) made Ante take his permanent place in playlists of international top DJs like Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, DJ Hell, M.A.N.D.Y., Anja Schneider, Karotte, Matthias Tanzmann, Joris Voorn or Charles Webster. As former A&R of Moguai and Phil Fuldners labels Punx and Polo Records, Ante surely knows what it takes/needs for a real club hit. Even the Major Companie “Warner Music” saw the great potential in his work and ordered a remix for Jennifer Rostocks Pop-Anthem “Du willst mir an die Wäsche”. Ante TV The funster does not run an own TV-Channel (yet). In spite of everything Ante is not only brilliant behind the decks, his events and studio equipment, but also in front of the camera. With Ante TV he commits himself to Video Podcasting and amuses his audience with his self made Road Movies. As one of the fewest DJs he made it to a motion picture movie and plays the role of Chief-Commisioner Udo Alte in the Ruhrpott Blockbuster “Oh Fortuna” starting in may 2010. A Dortmund Diskobear with his Flashing Disco Sounds is just about to begin…

An interview with the guys about their production, their studio and their lives.

Sometimes a musical partnership is formed, where high quality forward thinking output is almost guaranteed, due to the sheer talent and experience of its 2 members. The partnership then of DJ Friction (of the hugely popular German band Freundeskreis), and DJ Thomilla (the well known Hip-Hop DJ and Producer, also one half of Turntablerocker with Michi Beck) was a certified, tried and tested winning combination. After much success individually, and eventual touring together with their various different projects, the pair got together as a DJ double act, and so ‚Bodymovin‘ was born.

Of course the natural progression after the duo‘s riotous DJ touring was to dedicate time in the studio together. The first results of these sessions could be heard on their first single ‚Good Time‘, which kicked things off for the newly founded ‚We Love This‘ label, followed by ‚Everybody‘ on Moonbootique. Now we are greeted with a full length, self-titled artist album that mixes superbly produced, energetic electro-disco-house jams with catchy, nu-pop sentiments, stretched over 12 glorious tracks; Moonboutique‘s third CD format release.

The album is richly decorated with lovingly played analogue synth vibes, funked-out basslines, irresistible vocal hooks and an unending supply of tight, club-friendly beats. Bodymovin aka DJ Friction & DJ Thomilla are two DJs and Producers with a very high reputation indeed. Over the last 15 years, they have become entwined both as friends and professionals, fi nding so many common factors in their roots, environment, musical history and influences.

Stuttgart born DJ Thomilla (now living in Berlin) became famous as a HipHop DJ and producer. With ‚Get Up‘ and ‚Reimemonster‘ (released on his very successfull debut album Genuine Draft) he landed two instant-hits of the genre. Further more, Thomilla was rewarded twice Platinum for his productions for the Fantastischen Vier (amongst others the hit singles ‚Troy‘ and ‚Einfach sein‘ were his products of his studio wizardry).

In the 90’s DJ Friction founded Freundeskreis together with Max Herre and Philippe Kayser. The outcome of their energetic work was two albums, one live LP, one ‚Best Of‘ compilation, golden records, numerous accolades and awards as well as receiving the label as one of the most important German bands within the last 10 years. After the millenium both experienced a musical metamorphosis. At fi rst they looked back to the early DJ days, a new wild-thing made of Funk, Soul, Disco, HipHop, House, Electro or Miami Bass into the modern times. The end of this spectrum was a common ground, in which the two musicians found new inspiration. This happened for Thomilla together with Michi Beck as Turntablerocker and for Friction as a solo act. DJ Friction then became a DJ and band support for live and DJ tours of Turntablerocker. The Bodymovin duo fi nally became formal in the year 2004, after the riotous joint club tour for their respective solo albums (Thomilla ‚Freeze‘; DJ Friction ‚Soulsonic‘).

In the duo‘s own words, they play ‚musical chess‘. Productions, like DJ-Gigs develop step by step. Both of them always fi nd the right answer. With 20 years of DJ experience the crowd dancing to Bodymovin in the club is taken to a plethora or different levels, growing in intensity as their set rides on into the night. Peaks and climaxes are all important, as is the tension that comes between them… each musical chapter is like a valve through which the heightened energy and pressure escapes, and lets the crowd go wild. At the same time the audience has the assurance that the next climax is never far away…!

As a DJ duo Bodymovin do not consciously serve one genre, and this is also their moto in the studio. In the beginning single Bodymovin tracks sound like their sets in fast motion, but they also work with hooks and vocals, and strong musical sequences, and in the end, they get lost in space! An important characteristic of a Bodymovin track, is the instrumental composition which they give high importance to. The instruments are played by them selves and they consciously avoid obvious effects or gimmicks.

Hamburg‘s promising duo-de-force Maniax, aka Marc Deal and Ferris, are back with another outstanding 12“ on Moonbootique. After last year‘s plentiful helping of rave medicine, ‚Dark City‘, the pair won favour across the board for their ‚straight to the jugular‘ take on the electro-tech-house sound. This new EP takes things one step further however, with the A side ‚Plutonium Boy‘ taking flight straight out of the pair‘s top-secret bomb factory! A wonky and obese bassline wiggles its way through the array of sharp beats, building with intense crescendos as layers of thick synth chords take their aim, smashing into the target with unbelievable force. The latest dispatch of otherworldly brilliance from esteemed electronic label Moonbootique offers four radically different interpretations of Sino Mack’s crazed computer funk. The original of ‘This ‘n’ That’ bumps along like a heavier Daft Punk, house with a heavy dose of boogie in its blood, as Mr. Mack sings the strange, addictive vocal: “A Little Bit of this / A Little Bit of That / a Little Bit of Dog / a Little Bit of Cat”.

The Decalicious Zick Zack Mix, transports the mood of the original into a wild acid techno rhythm. A slice of pure overdriven 303 electro, with a thundering, punky, buzzsaw bassline for those tougher floors.

When Daft Punk are the parents of Justice, then Moonbootica are even more the pioneers of german indie dance and surely the parents of Digitalism and Boys Noize. Moonbootica are koweSix and tobitob from Hamburg and certainly one of the most popular and constantly rocking dj– and producer-duos from Germany since the late 90s. After their debut lp from 2005 They just released their second album “Moonlight Welfare” with “Der Mond” as second single. This track hints at a bright and busy night ahead…none other than Jan Delay reveals that the moon is our sun: “Der Mond ist unsere Sonne”. If somebody knows how to mount tension in dance music it is definitely Ante Perry, as he proves once more on his new Moonbootique release „Jetstream“!
Mr. Perry, already known for floorfillers like „Der Urknall“ or „Beachpower“, is going to strengthen this huge success again. For the new single „Jetstream“ Ante invited no one less than the well known Tube & Berger aka Babylon Robots who released on Ministry Of Sound, Sony UK, Oxyd, Alphabet City and their own label Kittball Records and their discography inlcudes an impressive UK Top 30 hit („Straight Ahead“).

The title track kicks off with a strong bassline and a powerful synth, breaks right after just to explode the next moment with huge sounds, which shake things up to death. Basses and claps and a warm catchy melody escort the gentle dance vibe across the whole track. While keeping the tension on a high level from start to end, a sweet organ makes sure that this one will be an earwig. Great stuff!

On the flipside „Affentanz“ (translates something like „monkey fuss“) starts with a dark bassline and peaks into true „BoogieHouseElectroPunk“ with thrilling sounds, crazy monkey roars and the monstrous bassline. Big one!

Moonbootica will be celebrating their tenth birthday next year. Or rather, they won’t. Contrary to expectations, there will be no megalomaniac, orgiastic über party. Not an echo of prosecco. No cheese on sticks or twiglets. Nada. Its business as usual. In traditional Moonbootica fashion, they simply keep on keeping on. As they have been doing since their inception in 1999, the Hamburg duo have, in the truest sense of the word, kept things simple — guaranteed to rock the party and keeping on keeping on is the Moonbootica mission statement that made them great. Onwards and upwards, breaking the borders and out into the night, the darkened hours which need to be saved. Hence the title of their new compilation applies to them and to everyone else. A call to duty and a mass appeal. As the man says at the start of the set: “We need you — you and us, we have to save the night (…) We still have to save the night, save the night, … !”

The peaktime mix on the first CD pulsates with brilliance — a solid slice of Moonbootica funk, laced with their own productions, fit to turn any HGV cab into a hedonist sauna club — but its the second disc, filled to the brim with 76 minutes and 35 seconds of bliss that really does the trick. Without wishing to diminish Moonbootica’s services to the audience in the slightest, the two sets can broadly be categorized as the compulsory programme on the one hand and freestyle on the other. Top marks for both, with the compulsory programme hitting all the right buttons and the freestyle performance underlining Moonbootica’s artistic qualities. As it happens, their fans and friends often ask them about the “in between” albums — dismantling the construct of studio album and compilation — to them its all artistic freedom.

Disc two showcases Moonbootica in more playful mood, more percussive and unpredictable, adventurous and rich in tantalizing sounds of a thousand and one nights — strange knocks and futuristic hiss, voodoo queens and parrots, ritualistic voice fragments and party incantations, repeated like mantras. In the final third, a new Moonbootica number, “Men Of The Future”, makes an appearance, heralding a final change of course as we enter the realm of disco. Epilogue: A few years ago, Kowe and Tobi were asked during the course of an interview where they were up to in the thousand page story of their life. Their answer: page 81. If one were to pose the same question today, they may well be a few pages further on, but even if ten or a hundred pages have since been turned, the bulk of the boom lies ahead. In these transient times, where ageing is akin to a deadly sin, in one of the fastest-moving trades around , where activists have half the shelf life of natural yoghurt, Moonbootica stand firm in the current of fugacity, resolute as ever. Always on a mission to discover new and talented artists, the Moonbootique headhonchos discovered this young producer on the shores of Hamburg: The Coconut Wireless aka DJ Lice.  The — on first sight — odd name origins from the traditional language of the Hawaiian natives, who communicated in a special mouth-to-mouth only language to carry news and gossips from coast to coast.  This news also included info about the hottest surf-spots on the island.  And here comes The Coconut Wireless into action, who likes to surf digital waves made of House-, Electro– and Bigbeat tunes, tight as a Neoprene suit.

„Get The Fuck Up“ is indeed a tight Electro-House burner with mighty beats and a strong drive, this tune offers so many great aspects that the Moonbootique assembled a massive remix package.
For their remix of „Get The Fuck Up“ Robosonic (aka Schall & Robotti) focus on the mighty bass line and add loads of weird sounds from way-out synthies to street noise.
The Havana Boys aka Henrik Raabe and Jakob Seidensticker aka The Egocentric, who are currently working on their third album, add a touch of dub and rhythmwise a slight caribbean flavour, which remain covered behind a wall of Electrowaves.

His self-titled debut album put ASCII.DISKO (aka Daniel Holc) on the international map of well reputed Electro producers.  Released in 2003 on L’AGE D’OR, the album received raving reviews and scored “Album of the Month” in UK‘s DJ Magazine.  ASCII.DISKO, either live or as a DJ, creates a rough but steady mix of Electro, Wave, Techno, Pop and Rock.  In the summer of 2004 the Hamburg native moved to Madrid, where he continues to live and work. After almost 3 years since his debut, his new album ALIAS was released in 2006 on LADOMAT 2000.
ASCII.DISKO is a personal platform that uses an ALIAS to create a direct route to the dance-floor, where all emotions are unloaded.  It contradicts an „all-too-clean“ world and crashes directly into freedom, passion and indulgence.  This music is straight down the line which is exactly what it wants, yet it is never indifferent.  Constantly creating Rave moments, at times dirty, at times diffused, at other times somewhat more minimal but extremely catchy, or sounding infected by the bleep-Sound – extremely funky.  ASCII.DISKO connects his background and the status quo of his artistic achievements with the drive of today’s clubbers towards escapism, to collective exuberance, to rave.
The new single features HEY, one of the keytracks from the ALIAS album. But the ASCII.DISKO 2007 REMAKE gets rid of all the fake-guitar synthie-walls and strips the track down to a highly seductive Electro-House burner.  In the MOONBOOTICA REMIX on the flipside HEY undergoes the special Moonbootica treatment.  The two Moonbootique labelheads add a healthy portion of creaking and tweak the tune into a monstrous dancefloor killer.

The man behind Pfunkt is 21 year old student Alex Burkat from Philadelphia, who relocated to Pittsburgh to study Creative Writing and Film Studies.  He‘s starring in the video for „Confidance“ which he has also directed.  Alex already stirred a buzz with his energetic and funny live-shows as well as with his videos.

Now we are happy to present his debut release on Moonbootique.  „Confidance“ is a dirty rocking Electro-track that will devast the dancefloors.  While the extended version on the a-side has undergone a special treatment by Moonbootica‘s Tobitob, the remix has been crafted by labelchiefs Moonbootica who add a serious portion of dirty funk with a new bassline.

The ManiaX are a new crew from Hamburg who took office to pump some fresh air into the electronic music circuit. With tailwind from Fourartist Booking (Tiefschwarz, Turntablerocker, Digitalism) the duo swarms out to spread their irrestiably rocking Electro-House.
ManiaX consist of Marc Deal and HipHop retiree Ferris. Ferris aka Sascha Reimann has been one of the most popular MCs in Germany in the late 90ies and early 2000s and will be in cinemas in spring 07 with the movie „For the unknown dog“, while Dirty Deal (aka Marc Thiel) already contributed a remix for Klanggut and will appear on the next Gigolo compilation.
The duo teamed up with well reputed producers like Stephan Bodzin and Oliver Huntemann for their first release „Achtung, Achtung“ („Attention, Attention“).
Now for „Dark City“ which perfectly combines New School Electro with their Old School roots they worked with Andy Meid who has already been twiddling the knobs for acts like Kid Alex or Boys Noize and released on Tiga‘s Turbo label.

„Dark City“ kicks off with tight beats and a dirty rocking bassline who pave the way for some twisted breaks and surprising rave fanfares. An absolutely devasting dancefloor-bomb. „Sex In The City“ on the flipside starts a bit more melodic and housy before it developps into a forceful and dynamic groove. What a great addition to the Moonbootique roster!
